| A busy market town on the River Frome, full of steep and narrow
streets, known to most summer motorists as a weekend bottleneck. Cheap
Street (pedestrians only) is exceptionally quaint, and has a runnel of
water down its centre. There are fine buildings of various periods
including, at the approach to the bridge across the river, the early
18th-century almshouses. For the motorist who is in no hurry to move
west, Frome is a good centre from which to explore Bath and Wells.
Cheddar and many other places in eastern Somerset. |
