who have a connection with Somerset. Of course we
do not generally find out about the unsung heroes
of the County and doubtless there are many but at
least here are some of the more famous people who
either have Somerset roots or have played some part
in the life of the County. You can find the people

entries are given their own links.
John Wesley
An eighteenth century
preacher who founded the Methodist Church. His influence
extends all over the world were countless people
have found inspiration through his teachings and
example. He was not born in Somerset but he certainly
preached in the County on numerous occasions. We
have extract from his Journal which recount some
of the events that took place in the county. The
Journal entries have been listed according to location.
